Child Passenger Safety Seat Program Hamilton County Public Health Nursing Service has received a grant from the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee for child passenger safety seats. Car seats are available to low income families in Hamilton County and a fitting station is open the 4th Thursday of each month at the county office building in Indian Lake. Blood Drive at Lake Pleasant Central School Hamilton County Public Health Nursing Service sponsored an American Red Cross blood drive at Lake Pleasant Central School on July 19, 2004 from 1:00 - 6:00 PM. 44 pints of blood were collected at the drive, which was a significant increase from last year's total of 36 pints. Hamilton County Public Health Nursing Service thanks all the donors for taking time to give blood. |

Cholesterol Screenings Cholesterol screenings will be held in August free of charge for Hamilton County residents. On August 18, 2004 a screening will be held at the Office For The Aging's Senior Picnic in Long Lake at the Sabattis Pavilion from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM. This screening will be done on a walk-in basis. On September 1, 2004 a screening will be held at the Hamilton County Court House in Lake Pleasant from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The screening will be in the Board of Supervisors room.Appointments will be taken for this clinic. A third screening will be held in the Town of Inlet at the town office building on August 25, 2004 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Appointments will also be taken for this clinic. In addition to cholesterol screening, glucose testing will be offered at all screenings for a charge of $3.00. All cholesterol screenings are free of charge to Hamilton County residents. Breast Cancer Walk Hamilton County Public Health Nursing Service and community volunteers will be sponsoring the annual Hamilton County Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in the Town of Inlet on Sunday, October 17, 2004. The 3.5 mile walk will begin at the pavilion in Wells and will proceed on Route 30 to Algonquin Drive around Algonquin Lake and return to the pavilion. Sign-in will begin at 1:00 PM and the walk will start at 2:00 PM. Refreshments will be served at the pavilion and there will be health education displays and brochures on breast cancer as well.
