IMMUNIZATION CLINICS Immunizations for childhood diseases are provided at monthly clinics throughout the county. Visit our monthly clinic calendar for dates and times. DENTAL VAN Dental care is provided to low income and uninsured children ages 4-12 years through the Glens Falls Mobile Dental Van. The van is parked at a central location in the summer months to make it accessible to children who need services. PRENATAL VISIT PROGRAM Prenatal women receive health assessments, teaching and guidance to promote healthy birth outcomes. Home visits are made on request. |

NEWBORN/POSTPARTUM VISIT PROGRAM A nurse will visit new parents/babies in their homes to assess the newborn's physical and developmental growth and to provide parents with health guidance/educational materials regarding infant care and available services. FLUORIDE DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM Fluoride significantly reduces the incidence of tooth decay. Fluoride drops and tablets are distributed to children from six months to school age or age 13 for home-schooled children. CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING PREVENTION PROGRAM The purpose of the lead program is to identify lead poisoning in children ages 6 months to 6 years and to provide health education materials to parents and the public regarding lead. PRESCHOOL HEARING SCREENING PROGRAM Hearing screenings for preschool children ages 3-5 are available at well child clinics, private and public preschools and by appointment. Children found to have a hearing deficit are referred for further testing/evaluation. INJURY PREVENTION AND CONTROL PROGRAM Injury prevention materials such as car seats and bike helmets are available to County residents who are income eligible. FAMILY PLANNING PROGRAM Upon request, families receive health information regarding family planning methods. Referrals to family planning providers are made as appropriate. |

Lead Poisoning Facts People can get lead in their bodies by breathing or swallowing lead dust, or by eating soil or paint chips containing lead. Even children who seem healthy can have high levels of lead in their bodies. Lead exposure can harm young children and babies before they are born.
